Overnight Oats with Berries & Almond Butter
If mornings are a rush, this is breakfast that makes itself while you sleep. Five minutes the night before and you wake up to something creamy, filling and properly nourishing, no cooking and no washing up beyond one jar.
Ingredients
- 40g rolled oats (use certified gluten-free oats if needed)
- 120ml milk of your choice
- 2 tbsp natural or plant-based yoghurt
- 1 tsp chia seeds
- 1 tsp maple syrup or honey (optional)
- A handful of berries, fresh or frozen (about 60g)
- 1 tbsp almond butter
Method
- Add the oats, milk, yoghurt and chia seeds to a jar or bowl and stir well so there are no dry pockets of oats.
- Stir in the maple syrup or honey if you like a little sweetness.
- Cover and leave in the fridge overnight, or for at least 4 hours.
- In the morning, give it a stir and loosen with a splash of milk if it’s too thick.
- Top with the berries and a swirl of almond butter, then enjoy straight from the jar.
Tips
- Meal prep: make three jars at once. They keep well in the fridge for up to 3 days, so add the toppings on the day.
- Swap it up: try grated apple and cinnamon, or banana and a few chopped walnuts.
- Frozen berries work beautifully. Add them the night before and they’ll defrost into a lovely jammy layer.
